Hello!
This is Elsdaddy. Today, we are going to learn the expressions about surprise and fright. I tend to feel a lot of surprise and fright when I watch horror movies. Do you like watching horror movies? If not, when do you feel surprised and frightened? Then, shall we look at the example sentences?

1. Example Sentences
1) I felt sick with fear because my kids came home late last night.
아이들이 지난 밤에 집에 늦게 와서 두려움에 떨었어요.
2) She feels sick with worry about her sick father.
그녀는 병든 아버지에 대한 걱정으로 두려웠어요.
3) I was frightened by my mom's anger.
엄마의 분노에 겁이 났어요.
4) The child got freaked out being home alone.
그 아이는 혼자 집에 있어서 겁을 먹었어요.
5) He gets freaked out when he rides rollercoasters.
그는 롤러코스터를 탈 때 겁을 먹는다.

6) Ghost stories freak me out.
유령 이야기는 무서워요.
7) You are making my blood run cold.
깜짝 놀랐잖아.
8) The creepy sound made her blood run cold.
소름 끼치는 소리가 그녀를 오싹하게 했다.

 

9) It knocked my socks off.
 깜찍 놀라 기절할 뻔 했어요.
10) It knocked me off my feet.
나를 깜짝 놀라게 했어요.
11) I nearly fell over. /  I almost keeled over.
 거의 기절할 뻔 했어요.
12) It blew me away.
 (감동받아 기쁨으로) 놀라게 하다.
13) You made me jump.
 진짜 깜짝 놀랐어.
14) That beats me.
깜짝 놀랐어요.
15) I got goose bumps.
